I spent Easter Night on the Cape with my cousin Marci. I haven't seen her since October, so you can imagine our excitment when I got to sleep over for one night, before they returned to North Carolina till this summer.
This morning, Auntie Michelle planned on leaving around 3 [in the afternoon]. And, they made it by an hour late. Since Fadre was working today and Madre wasn't going to drive down to Carver to pick me up, my brother Justin [who is living at Grandma's house where Marci was staying] offered to drive me home. Justin has a wicked crappy car. It's decent and it gets him places, but it often breaks down and he has to fix it quite alot. So, on the way home things were going pretty well. Then at an intersection pretty close to my house.. it stalled. Well, I wouldn't call it stalling. I'd call it flat out shutting down and locking up.
Justin tried turning it back on, repeatedly. And he was even forced to push it to the side of the road, when the light turned green. After opening up the hood and attempting to fix the problem, he gave in and called Fadre. He was going to come and pick us up, but a couple in a SUV called out and asked if Justin needed a jump start. "No, if anything I need a good push and I'll be able to get it started." The guy pulled up a little bit farther and put his blinkers on. He gave Justin's crap box a push and it started almost on the 2nd try. Justin said thank you and the guy returned to his car and his wife.. and drove off.
It amazes me that some people are just so arrogant and don't even stop to think twice when a woman drops her stuff while shes trying to carry her baby, when somebody is broken down on the side of the street, if someone can't come up with the extra 15 cents to by a soda. But, it's every refreshing when somebody helps the woman with the baby, offers the person broken down a phone to call AAA or a jump start and when someone pitches in that mere 15 cents. When someone does something without expecting anything in return, is awesome. And it makes the person that you helped feel really good... that there IS hope out there.
