Ugh Labor Day Weekend, the weekend that marks the end of the summer and the beginning of the school year. This day is sad, but yet exciting, for me. On this weekend, EVERY YEAR my whole family (including all my cousins) go up to our cottages in Kingston, NH for the weekend. This brings back alot of memories for me, and this is usually how the weekend goes:
Most people get up there Saturday or that night. We all unpack and settle in. On Sunday, if its nice weather, then everyone goes down to the beach and we go on Uncle Teddy's boat. But that night is when the real fun starts! My cousins and I (TJ, Alex, Austin, Andrew, Mark, Ailson, Zach, Morgan, Philip, Elizabeth and a newly added player, Scotty) have made it a tradition that we play Man Hunt on Sunday night. As far back as I can remember we've always had the Big Kids Team and the Little Kids Team. I was always on the Little Kids Team. But this year (since I'm 13) I thought that I should get to be on the big kids team. But, I come to realize that they do not have the usual teams, but split up the big kids and little kids amongst the 2 teams. I was upset about this but soon they all decided to just let me think that the team I was on was the Big Kids Team, just so I'd shut up! LOL!!! We had so much fun, hiding and finding. This year they came up with some pretty interesting hiding spots. (We found TJ on the roof of his camp and I spent 15-20 minutes hiding under Auntie Nancy's camp with Alex and Morgan.) We stayed out till at leat 12 at night playing Man Hunt, and I think we all slept pretty good that night, lol!!
The next morning (Labor Day) we all woke up at the crack of dawn (not really...but it was pretty early) and headed down to the Compound for the Pancake breakfast. After we all ate, the boys had a Baseball Tournament in the front of the Compound. I had so much fun watching them play and cheering for TJ's team (that I named the "Smarty Pants") and Andrew's team (that HE named the "Caucasian Bum Bums"... lol!!). I don't even know who won and I don't even care, it was just a great day and I had fun with my cousins.
Once everybody had finished eating and the boys were done with their game, they all started to clean up and Uncle Teddy boarded up the Compound. It was so sad to see those boards nailed up, it meant that it REALLY was the "end of the season" and that we wouldn't all be up there again till next summer. And I can't wait...
